So far, I've discovered that "PLII" Movie mode is the best for me as far as "Set it and forget it" is concerned, as I like what it does to the sound, and I like having upmixing on all non-surround content, which is quite nice. The manual says the receiver works best with 8 ohm speakers. (8 ohm speakers will measure as 6.5-7.5 ohms on a meter anyway) and I have been up to 54-57DB out of 60DB for hours and the receiver stayed room temperature.
